About CNX Foundation’s Dream Fields Initiative

From physical fitness to improved mental health, participation in youth sports makes a positive impact on children’s overall health and wellness—one of CNX Foundation’s key pillars. In support of this area of focus, CNX Foundation has launched its Dream Fields initiative, designed to rehabilitate and revitalize sports fields across the Appalachian basin. Dream Fields embraces the belief that clean, safe, well-maintained fields improve the players’ overall experience and keep children playing the games they love longer.

CNX Foundation receives a large number of requests to sponsor youth sports and athletic programs. We value the importance of these programs in communities. In order to qualify for funding, organizations must be based in one of CNX’s areas of operation. Dream Fields is intended to support community-maintained local venues, filling in funding gaps and addressing identified needs at fields and sports surfaces throughout the region. CNX Foundation’s Dream Fields work covers revitalizing baseball, soccer and field hockey fields, volleyball and tennis courts, and outdoor hockey rinks to name a few.

Potential projects include, but are not limited to:
  • Painting lines on soccer fields
  • Field maintenance, grass cutting, seeding, and treatments
  • Purchasing new benches for baseball and softball dugouts
  • Supplying batting cages at baseball fields
  • Improving fences where needed
  • Purchasing new bleachers
  • Dirt or drainage repairs for fields
